Ishikawa youngest winner in pro golf history
Fifteen-year-old Tokyo high school student Ryo Ishikawa became the youngest winner in the Japanese men's professional tour after claiming victory at the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup. In his tour debut, Ishikawa shot a 6-under-par 66 in the final round for a one-stroke win over veteran Katsumasa Miyamoto. Finishing with a 12-under 276, Ishikawa's win at 15 years 8 months makes him the first-ever high school winner on the pro circuit and only the second amateur winner since 1980. Ishikawa was ranked 23rd in the preliminary round but he made a comeback at the 36-hole final to eventually win the May tournament held at Tojigoaka Marine Hills Golf Club, Okayama Prefecture.
