Midtown opens in Roppongi

A towering new addition graces the Tokyo skyline. Tokyo Midtown, the latest high-rise mega-complex in the nightlife district Roppongi and now the tallest tower in Tokyo, opened its doors on March 30.
The sparkling tower rises 248m and contains the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo luxury hotel, vast office space, art galleries, a plethora of shops and restaurants, a 24-hour supermarket and exclusive apartments destined to be leased by a wide range of corporate tenants.
Tokyo Midtown was constructed by a development team led by the corporation Mitsui Fudosan. Big names such as Konami and Fujifilm Holdings have already set up their main offices there and, as expected, Tokyo Midtown is now in direct competition with the nearby Roppongi Hills mega-complex which was completed in 2003. It is anticipated that the 370 billion yen Tokyo Midtown will receive 30 million visitors a year.
