Celebrity chef's assault on Tokyo

Maruyu opens $2.50 treasure-trove

According to The Australian, Luke Mangan, celebrity chef of Sydney's Glass Restaurant & former Salt Restaurant fame, will open his own Salt Tokyo restaurant in Japan on April 27. The new restaurant which will seat 100 and another 40 with an adjoining wine bar, is located in Chiyoda Ward's exclusive Shin-Marunouchi Building. Mangan hopes Salt's uniquely Australian flavours will be popular with Tokyo's demanding diners. "There's a lot of competition in this town," said Mangan. "But we're offering something different, a touch of Australia."
